Humberto Mariles Cortés (born June 13, 1913 in Parral ; † December 6/7 , 1972 in Paris ) was a colonel in the Mexican army and a successful show jumping and eventing rider . At the Olympic Games in London in 1948 he won the team and individual gold medals in show jumping, as well as the bronze medal with the team in eventing.

Criminal offenses
- On August 14, 1964, Mariles Cortés shot a man from his car at the intersection because it had previously pushed him off the street.
- In November 1972, Mariles Cortés was arrested in Paris with 7 other people for heroin smuggling. He died in a prison in Paris a few days after his arrest.
