Gerd Wiltfang
Gerhard "Gerd" Wiltfang (born April 27, 1946 in Stuhr ; † July 1, 1997 in Thedinghausen ) was a German show jumper .
Career
With the German team he was Olympic champion in jumping at the Olympic Games in Munich in 1972 . In 1978 he was able to achieve his greatest success in singles when he became world champion on Roman in Aachen . Because of the Olympic boycott, he could not compete in the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow .
Wiltfang died of heart failure at the age of 51. At his death he was a third marriage and had two sons from this marriage. He found his final resting place in the cemetery of the Ganderkesee community in the Bookholzberg district . He also had two children from a previous marriage. For his services to sport in Lower Saxony , he was accepted into the Lower Saxony Sports Honor Gallery of the Lower Saxony Institute for Sports History in 1998. He was also awarded the silver bay leaf .
