Paul Schockemöhle (born March 22, 1945 in Steinfeld , Lower Saxony ) is a German entrepreneur and former show jumper .

Athletic career

In 1981, 1983 and 1985 he became European Champion three times in a row with his most successful horse Deister . A success that has remained unique so far. He also celebrated successes at the Olympic Games and numerous national prizes . For their services to sport in Lower Saxony , the two brothers were included in the Lower Saxony Sports Honor Gallery of the Lower Saxony Institute for Sports History.

Schockemöhle as an entrepreneur

Paul Schockemöhle began building up his logistics company as early as 1966 , which is still one of the largest forwarding companies in Germany today .

In 1989 Paul Schockemöhle founded another company together with the then manager of Boris Becker , Ion Țiriac : the company PST- Marketing for the marketing of international and national sporting events.

He is also active in the agro-industrial sector ( egg production in battery cells ). According to information from the Tierrecht aktiv group , he is part of a consortium that took over the laying batteries from the entrepreneur Anton Pohlmann in 1996 .

In 1996 he was sentenced to eleven months in prison for tax evasion and had to pay 22.6 million marks in taxes.

Performance Sale International

In 1980 Paul Schockemöhle, together with George Morris and Frank Chapot, had the idea that there was a market in America for sport horses from Germany and Holland. To this end, successful auctions with talented young European horses were held in the USA. Together with Ullrich Kasselmann, Schockemöhle is now organizing the Performance Sale International Auctions (PSI Auctions) in Germany in Ankum , where young horses are auctioned. So far, the former Bundeschampioness Poetin has received the highest bid with € 2.5 million.

On his stud in mills he formed another successful show jumpers, including Orchid , The Freak and Waltz King, the Olympic medals and international tournaments with riders such as the Irish Eddie Macken , Otto Becker and Olympic champions Franke Sloothaak , Dirk Hafemeister and Ludger Beerbaum won successes .

With Gestüt Lewitz, Paul Schockemöhle has created one of the largest centers for horse breeding. A total of around 3000 horses are kept on around 3000 hectares , and around 500 foals are born every year. Among other things, the embryo transfer method is used.

Schockemöhle came under fire in 1990 because he used the so-called parallel bars to induce his horses to jump higher. Subsequently, the German Equestrian Association prohibited the practice of barring in show jumping horses both at tournaments and during training.
