On August 13, 1982 he married his wife Eva-Maria. Since she wanted to get married on a Friday the 13th, but had already reported Rüping to the tournament in Copenhagen , they drove to Itzehoe during the tournament , got married there and drove back to Copenhagen immediately afterwards. One hour after arrival, the jumping began, from which Rüping emerged as the winner.

Horses

His most notable horses were the three Holsteiner stallion Silver Lake , Calypso II and Caletto I . Rüping also brought the stallion Calvaro Z , later presented internationally by Michael Whitaker and Jos Lansink , into the sport.

Rüping and the Holstein association stallion Silbersee were one of the most successful couples of the 1980s, the two of them had their heyday between 1982 and 1988. In 1987 the couple Rüping / Silbersee won the jumping derby in Hamburg-Klein-Flottbek. Soon after the derby victory in Hamburg, Silbersee was sold to Sweden and Rüping's competitive sports career came to an end.

From 1981 to 1986 he was successful in tournaments with Caletto I. Under Rüping, the Cor de la Bryeré son was the most successful Nations Cup horse in 1983 and the most successful jumper at the CSIO in Geneva. By 1986 Caletto I had won a total of DM 100,000.
