Breeding history
The Holsteiner was originally a horse that was used both as a riding horse and when working in the field. The first breeding began in the 14th century in the monastery of Uetersen . Through constant refinement of the breed, above all through the use of English thoroughbreds , he has become a riding horse with excellent qualities for show jumping, but also for dressage and eventing.
The most important sires in show jumping are:
- Ladykiller xx (through his sons Landgraf and Lord)
- Cor de la Bryère
- Capitol
- Marlon xx (sire in dressage, jumping, military).
