Klein Flottbek is a district on the north bank of the Lower Elbe in the Altona district of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg . It is also the name of the S-Bahn station on the Altona-Blankeneser Railway located here .

The name of the district is derived from the Flottbek brook , which flows through the Jenischpark in eastern Klein Flottbek and the Flottbektal nature reserve to the Elbe . The Jenisch House built by Senator Jenisch is open to visitors today as a museum for Hanseatic living culture. Not far from here is the Ernst-Barlach-Haus art museum .

The western part of Klein Flottbek includes, among other things, the Wesselhoeftpark and the Westerpark, also called Derby Park , which was restored until 2003 (formerly the von Ehren tree nursery ). Like the Jenischpark, this one goes back to the chancellery of Baron Caspar Voght as part of his " Ornamented Farm ".

The Klein Flottbeker Elbufer is a popular destination for walkers thanks to the Elbuferweg near Teufelsbrück . From here there are local transport connections by buses and ferries. The Elbchaussee also runs along the Elbe in Klein Flottbek , a particularly long and well-known Hamburg street with various spacious buildings, some of which are of considerable value due to their view of the Elbe.

location

The district of Nienstedten today includes the western, Othmarschen the eastern part of the district. The area north of the train station, including the botanical garden, is part of the Osdorf district . Klein Flottbek is roughly delimited by the Elbe in the south, the Hemmingstedter Weg in the north, the streets Holztwiete, Ohnsorgweg and Baron-Voght-Straße in the east and Kanzleistraße and Jenischstraße in the west.

The northern approach lane of the Airbus plant in Finkenwerder runs through Klein Flottbek and Jenischpark. Flight operations have been increasing in frequency since the A 380 aircraft and its derivatives were produced in Finkenwerder.

Altona, in turn, was incorporated into the city of Hamburg in 1938 under the Greater Hamburg Act . In contrast to Groß Flottbek , Klein Flottbek is not a separate district of Hamburg.

Once a year, in May, the popular German show jumping and dressage derby takes place on the horse show ground south of the Klein Flottbek S-Bahn station ( Derby Park Klein-Flottbek ) . The German driving derby was occasionally held on the site with its jumping course, which has remained almost unchanged since the first derby in 1920 (including Pulvermann's grave ) .
