Philip Rüping (born April 26, 1984 in Itzehoe , Schleswig-Holstein ) is a German show jumper .

Career

Philip Rüping rode his first tournament when he was ten. In 1998 he won his first S-class with Luciano at the North German Youth Championships in Klein-Flottbek . In 2003 he was awarded the Golden Riding Badge . From 2000 to 2005 Rüping was national champion in his age group six times in a row. After graduating from high school in 2003, he was stationed as a mounted soldier at the Bundeswehr Sports School in Warendorf . There he trained under Manfred Kötter . In 2003 he won the bronze medal at the German Young Rider Championships in the saddle of Rainbow . In 2004 Rüping was part of the German squad at the European Championships in Portugal . At the 2005 European Championships in Schaffhausen , he won team gold for the young riders in a team with Felix Haßmann , Heinrike Konzag and Simone Meurer. Also in 2005 he took tenth place at the Grand Prix of Hamburg .

After a stay in the USA, he began studying business administration in Hamburg , which he broke off shortly afterwards. From October 2006 to March 2007 he worked as a rider for Holger Wulschner and was appointed to the B2 squad of German show jumpers in mid-2007. On the mediation of Dietmar Gugler , he moved to New York for seven months to train the US show jumper Georgina Bloomberg . After his return he started his own business with his father on the Breido Graf zu Rantzau facility . There the two young horses train for the great sport. In 2010 he won the Wittensee Grand Prix with his stallion Landaro and thus the second Grand Prix within eight days. Due to the success, the couple was nominated for the Nations Cup in Drammen at short notice and finished the tournament as the best German couple. In 2011 he became regional champion for Schleswig-Holstein and Hamburg on Landaro .

Philip Rüping has been working as a rider in Paul Schockemöhle's sports stable in Mühlen since 2013 . Rüping had one of the most successful years of his career in 2016: With Copperfield he achieved several top 3 placements in CSI 3 * and 4 * grand prizes. Then he got the opportunity to compete as part of the German team at the Nations Cup in Šamorin (CSIO 3 *).

Private

Philip Rüping comes from a horse-loving family. He is the son of the former Nations Cup rider Dr. Michael Rüping . His sister Jessica and his mother Eva-Maria also ride.
