K + K Cup

The K + K Cup is a large national horse show that takes place every January in the Münsterland Hall in Münster .

General

The K + K Cup is organized by the Reiterverband Münster e. V. in cooperation with Escon Marketing GmbH from Emstek .

According to the organizers, the 131st edition of this tournament was celebrated in 2012. The tournament takes place at the beginning of January. The tests are held in the main hall of Halle Münsterland (jumping competitions, individual dressage competitions) as well as in the adjacent exhibition hall north (dressage competitions).

The second important horse show in Münster is the winners' tournament held in the summer months .

history

As part of the opening of the Münsterland Hall on April 17 and 18, 1926, the first smaller tournament of the Münster District Equestrian Association took place here. In January of the following year, the first major tournament took place in the Münsterland hall. After the Second World War, the tournament took place again for the first time in 1949 in the sold-out Münsterland hall. During this time, two tournaments per year were held in the Halle Münsterland, as the tournament previously held in the Westfalenhalle Dortmund could not take place there due to the destruction of the war.

After the tournament was initially held as a district tournament with a large number of tests, tests in the advanced class were also added in the 1950s. The Show Jumping Grand Prix has been held since 1954.

Starting in 1963, a second tournament was held again in March: Due to the large number of starters at the January tournament, the youth competitions were split off. As part of this youth tournament, the winner of the pony rider's golden sash was determined.

From 1990 to 2007 the tournament was called the Rolinck Cup, named after the main sponsor, the A. Rolinck private brewery from Steinfurt . Since 2008 the tournament has been named after the new main sponsor - K + K Klaas & Kock .

The first day of the tournament is always Wednesday: In the afternoon there is a qualification test for regional show jumpers to participate in the next tournament ( class S * ). In the evening a stallion gala will be held.

Thursday is reserved for the regional tests up to M level in dressage and jumping. On Friday there are dressage tests up to S * level and the first major jumping competitions up to S *** level. The program on Saturday includes a Grand Prix de Dressage (S **** dressage test) and the Münster championship.
