Anabel "Belli" Balkenhol (born April 8, 1972 in Hilden ) is a German dressage rider .

Life

After finishing school and graduating from high school in 1993, Balkenhol studied special education until 1995 . In 1999 she graduated as an office clerk at the German Equestrian Association . She then lived in the USA from 2000 to 2002 . From 2002 she worked in her father's training stable, the dressage trainer Klaus Balkenhol . In 2007 she started her own business on her parents' farm in Rosendahl . At the beginning of 2014, Anabel Balkenhol was temporarily working in Offenhausen (municipality of Gomadingen), where she wanted to run her tournament and training stable in the branch of the main and state stud Marbach .

Anabel Balkenhol rode at Grand Prix level back in the 1990s , and she contested her first Grand Prix at the age of 22. However, she only had her sporting breakthrough at the end of the 2000s. According to her own statement, she put too much pressure on herself for a long time:

I used to want to ride more than 70 percent, today I am happy about a faultless ride. "

With her horse Dablino in July 2010, due to her success at the tournaments in Lingen and Fritzens in the previous month, she made the jump from 133rd to 16th in the world rankings. At the German Championships in Münster she won the Grand Prix de Dressage with Dablino and was German runner-up in the Grand Prix Spécial .

Due to the success achieved this year, she was nominated for the 2010 World Equestrian Games in Lexington . Here, at her first championship, she won the bronze medal in a team with Isabell Werth , Matthias Alexander Rath and Christoph Koschel .

From 2008 Anabel Balkenhol was part of the German B2 dressage team. At the beginning of 2010 she was accepted into the German B-team dressage. From 2011 on she was temporarily part of the A-squad (championship squad) of German dressage riders.

When she took part in the German Dressage Derby for the first time in 2011, she came second, Rubins Royal was the best horse in the test with horse change.

At the 2012 Olympic Games , she and Dablino were part of the German Olympic squad for the first time .

Anabel Balkenhol is trained by Klaus Balkenhol.
