Toni Haßmann (born November 4, 1975 in Lienen , North Rhine-Westphalia ) is a German show jumper and three-time derby winner .

Career

Haßmann's parents had four sons; he was born the second oldest in 1975. When his oldest brother was run over at the age of nine, his parents concentrated on teaching Toni Haßmann to ride.

Even at a young age, Haßmann was able to collect international successes, for example as a pony rider he was German runner-up (1990), bronze medalist at the German junior show jumping championships in 1991 and 1992 and silver medalist in the individual ranking of the junior European championships in 1993. As a young rider, he became European champion in 1995 his age group.

Toni Haßmann was trained as a horse manager with a focus on riding and was a graduate of the Bundeswehr sports school in Warendorf . Haßmann suffered a setback in his career when his former boss, Mobilcom founder Gerhard Schmid , parted ways with his horses in 2003.

Since July 1, 2003 he has been chief rider at Gut Berl in Sendenhorst , Hendrik Snoek's facility . Here he took over the horses that Markus Merschformann had ridden before. With these he celebrated a number of successes.

Between 2004 and 2006, Haßmann won the traditional German Jumping Derby in Hamburg - Klein Flottbek , one of the most demanding show jumping tournaments in the world , on Collin . Along with the Brazilian Nelson Pessoa (1992 to 1994 on Vivaldi ), he is the only show jumper to have three wins in a row. He had his own words biggest success in 2009 with the victory of the Grand Prix at the Vincenzo Muccioli Challenge in San Patrignano (CSI 5 *) with Lolita H .

He rode for the AMG-La Silla Team until the last time the team competition of the Riders Tour was held in 2006.

At the end of December 2010 he left Gut Berl and then worked on the DOKR facility in Warendorf. His successor in Sendenhorst was Katrin Eckermann from 2011 to 2014 . Since April 2017 he has been responsible for the training and marketing of show jumpers at the Beckmann stallion station in Wettringen , and has also been working on a freelance basis for the Westphalian horse studbook for years.

Toni Haßmann was last part of the German B-team for show jumping in 2015.

Private

Toni Haßmann was married and has a daughter from this marriage (* 2006). In April 2019, their daughter was born with Clarissa Crotta .

His brother Felix Haßmann is also a show jumper.
