Nelson Pessoa Filho (born December 16, 1935 in Rio de Janeiro ) is a former Brazilian show jumper .
biography
He is the son of a real estate agent and has lived in Europe since 1961 , now near Brussels .
In addition to his participation in five Olympic Games and nine world championships , his greatest successes include seven victories in the traditional German jumping derby in Hamburg - Klein Flottbek . This makes him the record winner of this competition and the first participant who managed to win the German Jumping Derby three years in a row with the same horse. He also recorded two victories in the Aachen Grand Prix and three victories in the English jumping derby in Hickstead .
He has been the only non-European European champion since 1966, as non-Europeans were also allowed to compete in this championship until this year.
His son Rodrigo is also an internationally successful show jumper.
