Kevin Staut (born November 15, 1980 in Le Chesnay , Arrondissement Versailles ) is a French show jumper.

Career

Kevin Staut started riding large horses at the age of 11 (he was too big for ponies because of his stature). He played his first tournament at the age of 14. After completing his school career, he first studied business and management and also has a bachelor's degree in literature.

Kevin Staut's grandfather bought 50 percent of his successful horse Kraque Boom for trading. However, no buyer was found for the horse, and later Staut's grandfather also acquired the remaining shares in Kraque Boom . With this horse, Staut celebrated his greatest success to date: after winning a gold medal at the European Championships with Crocodile Man as part of the French Young Rider Team (age group up to 21 years) and participating in the 2007 European Championships in Mannheim with Kraque Boom , he won the individual gold medal at the 2009 European Championships with Kraque Boom . In 2010 the World Championships and 2011 at the European Championships, he won the silver medal with the French team.

Staut was looked after by various coaches, for example he trained with Patrice Delaveau , Michel Hécart , Michel Robert , Albert Voorn and Hubert Bourdy between 1993 and 2001 . In addition to his own company, the "Ecurie Kevin Staut", he rode from 2008 to May 2012 for the "Haras de Hus", one of the largest French private studs. At first he rode young horses for the Haras de Hus, later on experienced horses were made available to him for his riding career.

Staut's successful mare Silvana , previously owned by Haras de Hus, was already up for sale at the end of 2011 . At the suggestion of Patrice Delaveau, his sponsor Haras des Coudrettes (HDC) bought the mare and made her available to Staut. HDC took over the sponsorship of Kevin Staut in April / May 2012 and acquired new competition horses for Staut, such as Estoy Aqui de Muze and Reveur de Hurtebise, to replace the horses that remained with Haras de Hus .

In 2012, Staut took part in the Olympic Games for the first time. In spring 2013 he came third with Silvana at the World Cup final in Gothenburg . Staut was involved in other team medals at the World Equestrian Games in 2014 (silver) and at the Olympic Games (gold) in 2016 .

At the end of 2017, Kevin Staut was elected President of the International Jumping Rider Club (IJRC), representing the interests of international show jumping riders. He succeeded Christina Liebherr in this position.

Until 2018 worked in a stable in Vauville ( Département Calvados ) in Normandy. At the beginning of 2019 he returned to his parents' stable. His partner is the show jumper Pénélope Leprevost .
