Mario Piasecki

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mario Piasecki (born April 9, 1960 in Mönchengladbach , North Rhine-Westphalia ) is a former Argentine show jumper , trainer and horse dealer.

Career

His father, who was taken prisoner by Germany during the Second World War, came from Poland, his mother was German. Since he never applied for a German passport, he himself was stateless, but rode with a German license.

In 1993 he trained the Argentine Nations Cup team for the CSIO of Portugal. Since one of the athletes was canceled, Piasecki suggested that he could ride in the team. Two weeks later he had the Argentine passport and thus became Argentine.

With Papermoon he qualified for the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, but the gelding had to be euthanized shortly before it began.

"That is why I will always sell in the future, if there is such an inquiry with the corresponding price for a horse, something like Papermoon no longer happens to me."

- Piasecki on the million offer that was turned down shortly before Papermoon's death

In the summer of 2014 he announced that he would end his active equestrian career. He now wants to concentrate on training riders and horses.

His clients include Haya bint al-Hussein , Athina Onassis and Margie Goldstein-Engle . Since 2005 he has been training the Russian show jumper Vladimir Tuganow .

Piasecki is married and has one daughter.
