Hubert Bourdy

Hubert Bourdy (born March 5, 1957 in Troyes ; † June 24, 2014 ) was a French show jumper .

Life and Achievements

Hubert Bourdy began riding at the age of eleven and made riding his profession at the age of 23.

His greatest successes were winning the gold medal in the team competition and the bronze medal in the individual competition at the 1990 World Cup in Stockholm. Bourdy finished third with the team at the 1988 Olympics , and repeated this success at the 1992 Olympics . He also represented France at the European Championships in 1993 and 2001.

In 2007 he won the Sao Paulo Grand Prix, a special stage of the Global Champions Tour . He was also runner-up in the Grand Prix of the Nations Cup in Calgary , which was the world's most highly endowed show jumping competition this year, with prize money of 1,000,000 Canadian dollars.

He rode his last international jumping competitions in February 2009, after which he ended his riding career. He now turned increasingly to the horse trade . He died of cancer on June 24, 2014.

Horses

At the Olympic Games in 1988 and at the World Championships in 1990 he took part with Morgat , at the Olympic Games in 1992 and at the European Championships in 1993 he started with Razzia du Poncel . In 2001 he started at the European Championships in Arnhem with Helios .

In 2007 he celebrated his success in Grand Prix with Toulon , a Belgian warmblood stallion born in 1996 (father: Heartbreaker, mother of: Jokinal de Bornilac). From 2008, Toulon was ridden by the show jumper and president of the Italian insurance company Fondiaria-Sai , Jonella Ligresti .

Other horses, such as Centino du Ry ( Württemberger gray stallion , father: Cento, mother's father : Caretino), have been presented in international sport by his student Igor Kawiak since Hubert Bourdy's retired .

The internationally successful show jumpers Cyrenaika FRH (under Toni Haßmann and Philippe Leoni ), Lacroix (under Robert Whitaker ), Fleche Rouge (under Leopold van Asten ) and Kassini'Jac (under Ludo Philippaerts ) also came from Hubert Bourdy's stable .
