Robert Whitaker (born January 26, 1983 in Huddersfield , West Yorkshire ) is a British show jumper .

In April 2013 he is at number 67 in the world rankings, after he was previously listed at number 61.

Career

Robert is an internationally successful British show jumper who has competed in Nations Cups for Great Britain since he was a junior .

At the Nations Cup in Norway in 2001, he rode in a team with his father John, his uncle Michael and his sister Louise. This was the first time Great Britain had a team that consisted exclusively of members of one family.

In 2003, 2008 and 2009 he won the British Open.

At the horse show in Stockholm 2011 he jumped bareback a 2.12 meter high wall and set a world record.

Private

Robert Whitaker is the son of show jumping legend John Whitaker and his wife Clare Barr, nephew of Michael Whitaker and cousin of Ellen Whitaker and William Whitaker .

In January 2013, he was sentenced to a fine and six months' non-compete parole for kicking a security guard during the Horse of the Year show in 2012 .

He lives in Belgium . In January 2015 the show jumper married Kate Jackaman. Their daughter was born in April 2013.
