Ellen Whitaker (born March 5, 1986 ) is a British show jumper .
It was ranked 7th by the British Show Jumping Association from May 2005 to April 2006. In April 2010, Ellen Whitaker was ranked 54th in the FEI's 111th world rankings, and in May 2014 she was ranked 270th.
Private
Ellen is the daughter of show jumping rider Steven Whitaker and comes from the British equestrian family Whitaker . She lives in Barnsley , South Yorkshire and attended Penistone Grammar School there.
In May 2011, she got engaged to actor Henry Cavill . In August 2012, it was announced that the couple had split months earlier.
She gave birth to a son in May 2014 and a second son followed in March 2016. The father of both children is their boyfriend, the Spanish show jumper Antonio Mariñas Soto .
Career
Most of all she explains her success with the training she receives from her father Steven, as well as with the drive to maintain her position as the UK's leading show jumper.
The Holstein stallion Locarno , which was ridden by Ellen Whitaker until 2011 and later by her father, was the most expensive horse ever introduced in Great Britain in 2005 with a purchase price of 1,000,000 euros. With Locarno , Ellen Whitaker had a chance of qualifying for the 2008 Summer Olympics , which she missed in June 2008 due to a leg infection in the stallion.
After disputes about the tournament use of her horses with the British team boss Rob Hoekstra, she announced in May 2010 that she no longer wanted to compete for the British Nations Cup and championship teams during his tenure . In September 2011 she started again in a Nations Cup (at the CSIO Calgary ), but Di Lampard was the team boss here.
