Friedrich Forkel

Johann Friedrich Forkel (born November 17, 1822 in Coburg ; † July 18, 1890 there ) was a lawyer, honorary citizen of Coburg and a member of the German Reichstag .

Life

Forkel was a high school student in Coburg from 1835 to 1841 and studied law in Jena and Heidelberg from 1841 to 1844 . During his studies he became a member of the Arminia fraternity in the Burgkeller in 1841 and of the Walhalla Heidelberg fraternity in 1843 . In 1848 he became a lawyer and from 1849 to 1858 he was also a provisional public prosecutor . He has been a member of the German Lawyers' Association since it was founded.

Since 1853 he was a member, from 1856 chairman of the city council in Coburg. From 1852 to 1856 he was a member and secretary of the Special Landtag in Coburg and the joint Landtag in Coburg and Gotha . Between 1860 and 1864 he was again a member of both state parliaments.

Between 1867 and 1871 he was a member of the North German Reichstag and from 1877 to 1881 of the German Reichstag for the National Liberal Party and the Coburg constituency.

In 1884 he became an honorary citizen of the city of Coburg.
