Ludo Philippaerts (born June 21, 1963 in Genk ) is a former Belgian show jumper and four-time Olympic participant.

Career

Philippaerts has already participated in four Olympic Games . In the individual ranking, he ranked fourth both at the 2000 Olympic Games (with Otterongo van de Kopshoeve ) and at the 2004 Olympic Games (with Parco ). In Athens, he and the team also took 6th place. At the 1992 Olympics , he was seventh with Darco . Philippaerts also took part in the 1996 Olympic Games (with King Darco ).

At the World Equestrian Games in 1990 he reached sixth place with Darco in both the individual and the team standings. He finished the 2006 World Equestrian Games in Aachen with Parco in the individual with 9th place and with the team in 7th place. In 2006 he won the Global Champions Tour . He also took part in the 1998 World Equestrian Games (with Nura ).

Philippaerts participated in all European championships from 1989 to 2002. He achieved his best placings at European Championships in 2001 when he finished second at the European Championships with Otterongo van de Kopshoeve and in 2003 when he just missed a medal and was fourth in the individual ranking with Parco . In 2008 Philippaerts won the World Cup evaluation test in Mechelen with Winningmood .

At the end of April 2015, Ludo Philippaerts announced the end of his active sports career.

family

Philippaerts comes from an equestrian family. His brother Johan Philippaerts and his two oldest sons Olivier and Nicola are also internationally active as show jumpers.

He lives in Meeuwen-Gruitrode with his wife Veronique and their four children .
