Olivier Philippaerts (born July 30, 1993 in Genk , Limburg ) is a Belgian show jumper .

Career

In 2005 he became Belgian pony rider champion and started at the European championships. In 2008 he won silver at the Belgian Junior Championships and eighth place at the European Championships. In 2009 he finished fourth at the Valencia Grand Prix , a CSI **.

Olivier Philippaerts was the 2010 European Junior Champion in the French Jardy. At the 2011 European Championships in Comporta , he and his brother Nicola won team gold for young riders . At the Belgian Equestrian Championships in 2011 at the Zangersheide Stud , he took fifth place with Cabrio van de Heffinck . In May 2012 he took third place in the team of his father, brother and Jos Lansink in the Nations Cup in Rome .

Due to his success, he was nominated as a substitute rider for the 2012 Olympic Games with Cabrio van de Heffink . A good month after the Olympic Games, he achieved his biggest single success in international tournament sport with Cabrio van de Heffink : He was the youngest ever winner to win the Grand Prix of the CSIO 5 * Spruce Meadows 'Masters' endowed with 1,000,000 Canadian dollars .

In the summer of 2016 he was in 22nd place in the world rankings.

Private

Olivier Philippaerts comes from a rider family, his father is the internationally successful show jumper Ludo Philippaerts . His twin brother Nicola Philippaerts also rides internationally. His two younger brothers Thibault and Anthony Philippaerts ride pony show jumping tournaments. His mother Veronique is known as a Belgian dressage rider. He lives with his parents and three brothers on the family's own riding facility in Meeuwen-Gruitrode .
