Concours de Saut International
Concours de Saut International ( CSI ) is the name of an international show jumping tournament organized by the FEI .
CSI
International show jumping tournaments, which are announced for all age groups , have been divided into one of five categories since 2003, which is indicated by the number of stars (depending on the spelling CSI * to CSI ***** or CSI 1 * to CSI 5 * ). The division is based on the amount of the prize money, the minimum amount for each category is set annually by the FEI. Depending on the category, the requirements of the tournaments also differ, for example in terms of the maximum height of the obstacles.
Tournaments that would be advertised today as CSI 1 * were designated as CSF until 1996, from 1997 to 2002 the designation CSIC was planned. Accordingly, CSI 2 * tournaments were called CSA until 1996 and CSIB from 1997 to 2002. Tournaments that would be advertised as CSI 3 *, 4 * or 5 * today were called CSI until 1996 and CSIA from 1997 to 2002.
CSIO
The Officiel (CSIO) extension denotes the official international jumping tournament of a country. Each country is only allowed to advertise one CSIO per year. In Germany this takes place every year as part of the CHIO Aachen , in Switzerland as part of the CSIO St. Gallen . The 100th CSIO Germany in 2015 is an exception : It was not held in Aachen as usual, but took place in Mannheim. As part of the CSIO tournaments, the Nations Cup of the respective country also takes place. Nations teams (with three or four riders per nation) start in a jumping competition with two rounds; in the event of a tie in first place, a jump-off decides. The Nations Cups in Europe, North and South America and the Middle East take place within the framework of the Meydan FEI Nations Cup or the three subordinate leagues called the “Promotional League”.
The Nations Cup tournaments are also advertised as CSIO * to CSIO *****.
CSI-W
Tournaments that are part of the FEI World Cup Show Jumping are advertised as CSI 1 * -W to CSI 5 * -W, depending on the category. In these tournaments, special World Cup rules with regard to the field of participants apply to the World Cup competitions.
Other types of tenders
International checks the ages of the Pony Riders (CSIP), Children (CSICH), Juniors (CSIJ) Young Riders (CSIY), U25-riders (CSIU25) and seniors (CSIV) and amateur (CSIAm) can, even if they under from other CSI tournaments, advertised as a separate CSI. These are classified with the additions -A or -B (for example as CSIU25-A).
In addition, as is the case with the rider's age group, it is possible to organize a nation's prize tournament for each country and age group. These are not classified further.
Further separate CSI announcements are possible for young show jumpers (CSIYH) and riders (CSIL). Separate CSI tournaments for female riders have so far only been held in France. One or two stars are given here for classification.
