Nicola Philippaerts (born July 30, 1993 in Genk , Limburg ) is a Belgian show jumper. In March 2019 he was at number 13 in the world rankings.

Career

At the 2010 Youth Olympics in Singapore , he won gold in the saddle of Gippsland Girl with the European team ( Martin Fuchs , Wojciech Dahlke, Valentina Isoardi, Carian Scudamore). The riders started with rental horses that were drawn to them.

At the 2011 European Young Rider Championships in Comporta , Nicola Philippaerts became double European champion.

In the same year Philippaerts was for the first time a member of a Belgian team in the age group of "riders". In the FEI Nations Cup he was used in the Nations Cup in Rotterdam, where Belgium took fourth place. He was also used twice in 2011 in the subordinate Nations Cup series, the Promotional League (in Lummen, 4th place and in Lisbon, 5th place). At the Belgian Equestrian Championships 2011 in Lanaken- Zangersheide , he was runner- up with Carlos .

Private

Philippaerts comes from a horse-loving family. He is the son of show jumper Ludo Philippaerts . His uncle Johan Philippaerts and his twin brother Olivier are also active as show jumpers.

Nicola Philippaerts lives with his parents and three brothers on the family's own riding facility in Meeuwen-Gruitrode .

He was in a relationship with the Spanish dressage rider Morgan Barbançon Mestre .
