Samantha McIntosh

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Samantha "Sam" McIntosh (born September 30, 1975 in Kawakawa ) is a New Zealand show jumper . She rode for Bulgaria in sports for several years.

career

McIntosh grew up as the daughter of horse breeders in New Zealand. Her mother Penny Stevenson is a well-known horse jumping trainer in New Zealand. She left New Zealand at the age of 18 and initially worked in Switzerland. Here she was in Markus Fuchs ' stable , then worked for Beat Mändli .

Towards the end of 1997 she moved to Aach . Here she worked in the stable of the former Swiss show jumper Günter Orschel , who rides for Bulgaria. In 1999 she also changed nationality and has been riding for Bulgaria since then. In the same year she also took part in an international championship for the first time, the European Championships in Hickstead . The following year she also took part in the Olympic Games with Orschel . Her second Olympic participation in 2004 was canceled because her horse Allure was injured shortly before.

In September 2008, McIntosh, after she had previously left Aach, changed the association again and is now active in sport for New Zealand again. As a result, like Katharina Offel , she was based in Lohmar-Breidt . In 2010 she started at the World Equestrian Games in Kentucky for her native New Zealand for the first time.

After living in the Belgian municipality of Asse from 2010 , she decided to move back to New Zealand in early 2011. Here she mainly wants to devote herself to young horses. Their previous successful horses stayed with their sponsors in Europe. In February 2012 she played the final of the New Zealand World Cup and reached seventh place with Witheze .

After three years in New Zealand, she returned to Europe, she is now based at the riding facility of Joëlle Cairaschi-Dagut in La Teste-de-Buch . As part of a CSI 1 * tournament in Hagen aTW, the qualifying test for Southeast Asia / Oceania for the 2016 Summer Olympics was carried out - with second place McIntosh just barely managed to secure a single starting place for New Zealand.
