Johan August "Åge" Lundström (born June 8, 1890 in Stockholm , † September 26, 1975 in Landskrona ) was a general in the Swedish Air Force as well as fencer and show jumping and eventing rider.

In 1910 Lundström was appointed officer and six years later lieutenant of the Livregementet Dragoon. In 1924 he became a pilot in the Swedish Air Force and in 1926 a captain. In the same year Lundström received an apprenticeship at the Royal Army Aviation School F 5 Ljungbyhed, Kungliga Krigsflygskolan. In 1931 he became Commanding Officer of the F 4 Frösön, Kungliga Jämtlands Flygflottilj, a division of the Air Force. Between 1932 and 1943 he was also Commanding Officer of the Army Aviation School. In 1948 he was promoted to Chief of Staff of Folke Bernadotte's troops in Palestine .

Sports

In 1914 Lundström became the Swedish champion in foil fencing . Between 1919 and 1921 he was a riding trainer in Strömsholm . He took part in two Olympic Games. At those 1920 in Antwerp , he secured the gold medal in eventing with the team on his horse Ysra and took second place in the individual. In individual show jumping he only achieved 14th place on Eros .

Four years later, at the Olympic Games in Paris in 1924 , Lundström won the show jumping on Anvers with the Dutch team. In the individual show jumping, he finished tenth.
