Jean Teulère (born November 27, 1954 in Bordeaux ) is a French eventing rider . The Knight of the Legion of Honor has been Olympic and world champion once each.

Teulère started riding relatively late, at the age of 14. In 1985 he made his international breakthrough with 2nd place in the team ranking of the European Championship , which took place as part of the Burghley Horse Trials . Further team medals followed at the 1991 European Championships in Punchestown (bronze), at the 1993 European Championships in Achselschwang (silver) and at the 1994 World Equestrian Games in The Hague (silver). At the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta , he narrowly missed a medal as fourth in the individual ranking. Several years followed without any particular success until he was able to win gold in the individual standings and silver with the team at the 2002 World Equestrian Games.

Teulère's greatest achievement is winning the team gold medal at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens (on Espoir de la Mière ). The French had initially finished second, but the German team was subsequently set back to fourth place because Bettina Hoy had triggered the time measurement too early in the show jumping. The International Sports Court upheld the jury's decision.

In 2007 Teulère was again Vice European Champion with the team in Pratoni del Vivaro .
