Nicolas Touzaint (born May 10, 1980 in Angers ) is a French eventing rider . The trained riding instructor is Olympic champion and two-time European champion and is one of the most successful riders today.

His father Jean-Yves was French eventing champion in 1975 and 1976, and his uncle Thierry was national coach in this discipline. Touzaint celebrated his first successes on an international level in 1997 when he finished first in the team classification and third in the individual at the European Junior Championships in Walldorf . In 2003 he won the gold medal in the individual and the silver medal in the team competition at the European Championships in Punchestown, Ireland .

Touzaint's greatest achievement is winning the team gold medal at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens . The French had initially finished second, but the German team was subsequently set back to fourth place, as Bettina Hoy had triggered the time measurement too early in the show jumping. The International Sports Court upheld the jury's decision.

At the European Championships in Woodstock in 2005 , Touzaint reached second place with the team. Two years later, in Pratoni del Vivaro, the second European championship title followed with victory in the individual standings, followed by second place with the team. Also in 2007 Touzaint won a competition in the highest category CCI **** for the first time with the Étoiles de Pau , followed by victory in the Badminton Horse Trials in 2008 .
