Woodstock is a small town and " civil parish " (municipality) in the English county of Oxfordshire , West Oxfordshire district , about 12 kilometers north of Oxford . Woodstock has 3100 inhabitants (2011). The River Glyme divides the place into the districts of New and Old Woodstock.

On its territory is Blenheim Palace , residence of the Dukes of Marlborough and the largest castle in England that was not built for the royal family. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site . Winston Churchill was born there in 1874 , whose grave is in the nearby town of Bladon.

Woodstock is the headquarters of the international medical technology group Owen Mumford .
