Viliam Schrojf (born August 2, 1931 in Prague , † September 1, 2007 in Bratislava ) was a Czechoslovak football goalkeeper . He played for ŠK Slovan Bratislava from 1955 to 1965 .

During his twelve-year international career, Schrojf played 39 games for Czechoslovakia.

Despite two fatal mistakes in the 1962 World Cup final in Chile , when Czechoslovakia lost 3-1 to Brazil , Schrojf was named the tournament's best goalkeeper.

Schrojf made his debut in the national team in 1953 as a substitute goalkeeper in a 5-1 home defeat in Prague against Hungary, which was then overpowering with Ferenc Puskás and Sándor Kocsis .

He was not called back for the next two years, but then secured the number 1 jersey and held the position until 1965, when Czechoslovakia failed to qualify for the 1966 World Cup in England .

Schrojf survived as the first Czechoslovak goalkeeper over 100 first division games without conceding a goal, which earned him membership in the club ligových brankářů .
