Frank Ostholt (born September 23, 1975 in Warendorf , North Rhine-Westphalia ) is a German eventing rider .
Career
Ostholt grew up on a farm, where he came into contact with horses through the small riding business.
His career began in 1996 when he took part in the German Young Rider Championships for the first time at the age of 20. At this time Ostholt celebrated his greatest successes with the mare Eos and Basilisk . In 2003 he won the German championship in eventing with his horse Air Jordan . Ostholt was able to repeat this triumph in 2005. In the meantime he had lost team gold due to a controversial decision at the 2004 Olympic Games and had fallen back to fourth place. Together with the German team, he celebrated several successes over the next four years, including bronze at the European Championships in 2005 and gold at the World Championships in 2006. In addition, he celebrated numerous successes in CCI tests with his horses Air Jordan , Mr. Medicott and Little Paint, and in 2008 he was again German champion, for the third time.
Frank Ostholt took part in the Olympic Games for the second time in Beijing in 2008 , but this time with Mr. Medicott . On August 12, 2008, Ostholt was Olympic champion with the team in eventing at the Olympic Games in Beijing together with Ingrid Klimke , Hinrich Romeike , Andreas Dibowski and Peter Thomsen . Because the best 25 riders qualified for the final in the individual, but no more than three from a team, Frank Ostholt was not able to start in the final show jumping, although he was eighth in the individual ranking at the time.
At the World Equestrian Games 2010 he was with Mr. Medicott as an individual rider 21st in the individual. He celebrated his biggest single success so far at an international championship in 2011: At the European Championships in Luhmühlen , he won individual bronze with Little Paint . At the German Championships in 2012 he also won bronze with Little Paint .
Private
He is married to the Swedish eventing rider Sara Algotsson-Ostholt . The couple has a daughter (Wilma-Sophie, * 2010)
