Julia Krajewski (born October 22, 1988 in Langenhagen , Lower Saxony ) is a German eventing rider . Since November 2016 she has been the national trainer of the eventing juniors at the German Equestrian Association . She is also a master horse management specialist in the area of riding training.

Life

Julia Krajewski was born as the first child of a qualified geophysicist and a veterinary assistant. She has two younger sisters. After graduating from high school Georgianum in Lingen , she completed her training as a master horse manager in the sub-area of riding training and is currently studying for a diploma as a trainer (as of 2015).

At the age of five she learned to ride her own horse, the Dartmoor mix Tibo . At the age of seven Krajewski achieved the first tournament placements and then began to ride versatility. Numerous championship successes followed in the tournaments of the respective age groups, also in the German and European championships.

She contested her first international championship in the “rider” age group at the 2011 European Championships in Luhmühlen , where she competed as a single competitor. However, after the battle , her horse stumbled on a sand crossing and suffered a tendon injury that caused him to retire from the sport.

In February 2012 the DOKR acquired the gelding London-Return OLD for Krajewski , with which she contested her first CCI 4 * test in Luhmühlen in June 2013 . Since it was first held in 2012, Krajewski has been part of German teams at the Nations Cup of eventing riders several times .

Krajewski trained the brown gelding Samourai du Thot himself and brought him into international eventing in 2012. In September 2014 the gelding competed for the first time at a 3 * level, and in May 2015 both won the CIC 3 * at the Whitsun tournament in Wiesbaden ahead of Michael Jung and Ingrid Klimke . In her second 4 * test, again in Luhmühlen, she took the lead with Samourai du Thot after dressage in June 2016 and finished the test in third place. A good month later, both were in the lead in the individual standings after dressage and jumping at the CICO 3 * Aachen, but they did not start off-road to protect the horse.

Krajewski was initially nominated as a reserve rider for the 2016 Summer Olympics . Since Andreas Ostholt's horse passed the constitutional examination, but had already walked irregularly at the final training camp in Germany due to a previously lost horseshoe , it was decided in Rio de Janeiro to change riders, Krajewski and Samourai du Thot moved into the German for Ostholt Team up. At the Olympic Summer Games in Rio Krajewski won the silver medal with the team. Krajewski was eliminated after three refusals of her horse in the area and provided the team's strike result .

Krajewski closed the 2016 season with a victory in the CCI 3 * of the Strzegom October Festival with Chipmunk FRH . For the gelding, who was Bundeschampion of 5-year-old eventing horses with Krajewski in 2013 , this was only the second participation in an international 3 * test and the first CCI 3 * ever.

For winning the silver medal at the Olympic Games in Rio, she received the Silver Laurel Leaf on November 1, 2016.

The start of the 2017 season was also successful: Krajewski came second in each of the 3 * short tests in Sopot , Houghton Hall and Wiesbaden . She was also part of the victorious German Nations Cup team at Houghton Hall . In mid-June, she achieved the greatest success of her career so far with Samourai du Thot , the victory in the 4 * event in Luhmühlen . At the European Championships in Strzegom in the same year, she was part of the German team with Samourai du Thot . However, her horse tested positive for firocoxib, which was considered an illegal medication. Since no explanation could be found for how the agent could have got into the horse, Krajewski declined to appeal to the FEI Tribunal and accepted the administrative penalty imposed by the FEI in the form of a fine. Krajewski was subsequently disqualified and the German team dropped from silver to tenth place. Krajewski was deleted from the German championship squad until June 30, 2018.

The year 2018 also started well for Krajewski by winning the German professional equestrian championship with a victory in the CIC 3 * Marbach. In addition, Krajewski was victorious at the CCI 3 * Bramham, both with Chipmunk FRH . In Luhmühlen she won the CIC 3 * with Samourai du Thot and thus became German champion for the first time. In the following year, 2019, she was able to repeat this success, winning 0.1 minus points over Ingrid Klimke .
