Simone Böckmann

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Simone Böckmann (born October 23, 1963 in Düsseldorf , née Richter) is a former German eventing rider . She was the first woman to win the German eventing championship.

Simone Böckmann was born in 1963 as the daughter of a master painter who worked as a rider and course builder in his free time. She gained her first riding experience at a riding facility in Düsseldorf-Eller . After her younger sisters started riding shortly afterwards, the daughters bought their first pony. More ponies followed , Simone Böckmann took part in a European pony championship with Napoleon . In 1986 the family moved to Düsseldorf-Lohausen , where the family still operates a riding facility today. After school, Böckmann did an apprenticeship as an office clerk and continued to work in this profession.

Böckmann celebrated her greatest success, who at that time bore the name Richter-Kals from her first marriage when she became the first woman to win the German eventing championship in 1988. Her horse here was Bantu , an Oldenburg gelding. In 1990 she competed with Bantu as an individual rider in the World Equestrian Games in Stockholm, but was eliminated from the cross-country test. Eight years later, again as a single rider , she was 27th with Chicoletto at the World Equestrian Games in Rome . The German team was not rated (less than three German team riders finished the test). In 2004 she won gold at the German team championship with the team of the Weser-Ems regional association.

Böckmann was active as an eventing rider until 2005. That year she had a bad fall in an eventing test and consequently decided the end of her riding career. She is now the coordinator for the eventing equestrian for the regional association Weser-Ems.

She is in her second marriage to Roger Böckmann , himself a former eventing rider and former managing director of Böckmann Fahrzeugwerke and brother of Gilbert Böckmann , married and lives in Lastrup . Simone Böckmann is the mother of three sons: Liam (* 1999) and the twins Calvin and Jason Böckmann (* 2001). All three compete in versatility tests. Calvin is also successful as a show jumper (including individual European champion of the pony eventing rider 2015 and team European champion of the show jumping rider in the children age group 2015).
