Otto Ammermann (born September 7, 1932 in Kleinensiel ) is a former German eventing rider who won the Olympic silver medal with the team in 1976 .

Life

Otto Ammermann started for the Jader Reitclub Jaderberg . As early as 1963 he won a championship jumping in Aachen. He won the German championship in 1969, 1978 and 1980. In 1976, Ammermann and eight-year-old Volturno qualified for the German team at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal. In cross-country riding he had to be disqualified after several mistakes and a fall. Together with Karl Schultz , Herbert Blöcker and Helmut Rethemeier , Ammermann received the silver medal and the silver laurel leaf behind the team from the United States.

In 1978 Ammermann won the silver medal at the World Championships in Lexington together with Helmut Rethemeier, Harry Klugmann and Herbert Blöcker on Volturno . Ammermann missed the 1980 Olympic Games because of the Olympic boycott . At the alternative festival in Fontainebleau , Germany came silver, Ammermann and Volturno came tenth in the individual ranking.
