Ludwig "Lutz" Goessing (born May 13, 1938 in Dortmund ) is a former German eventing rider who won the Olympic bronze medal with the team in 1972.

Life

Lutz Goessing grew up on his parents' farm in Schleswig-Holstein. He started in 1968 for the riding club Warendorf and 1972 for the riding club Brockhagen-Kölckebeck . In 1966 and 1967 he won the German championship. At the Olympic Games in 1968 Goessing competed with Arved , but retired after cross-country riding. Four years later, Goessing was nominated for the 1972 Olympic Games after winning in Luhmühlen . On the ten-year-old gray gelding Chicago he took 13th place in the individual ranking. Together with Harry Klugmann , Karl Schultz and Horst Karsten , Goessing received the bronze medal in the team competition behind the teams from the United Kingdom and the United States.

For this he was awarded the silver bay leaf on September 11, 1972.

In addition to eventing, Lutz Goessing was always active as a show jumper. The farmer ran his own tournament stable together with his wife in Brockhagen , Steinhagen municipality . The horses in the stable were presented at tournaments by the show jumping rider Mylène Diederichsmeier , who was already doing her training on the farm of the Goessing family. Since Goessing was planning to close his stable at the end of September 2010 for economic and personal reasons, Diederichsmeier left the Goessing stable. Since autumn 2010 the horses of the Goessing family have been presented in sport by Tim Rieskamp-Goedeking .

Lutz Goessing has been widowed since the death of his wife Christa on December 28, 2011.
