Christa Goessing , née Schünemann (born December 8, 1939 in Hanover , † December 28, 2011 in Heidelberg ) was a German show jumper , horse breeder and equestrian patron.
Life
Christa Goessing's parents worked in the construction industry. In her active sports career, she achieved several top placings at the German Show Jumping Championships : in 1966 and 1968 she won silver, in 1969 she won the bronze medal - each in the women's championship.
Together with her husband Lutz Goessing , with whom she had a daughter, she ran a tournament stable in Brockhagen, Westphalia, from 1969 to 2010 . Here they sponsored the nationally known tournament of the local breeding, riding and driving association as well as the German Classics in their hometown. Christa and Lutz Goessing provided their riders Heinrich-Wilhelm Johannsmann , Susanne Behring and Mylène Diederichsmeier with horses for their equestrian careers.
Tim Rieskamp-Goedeking has been running the Goessing family's stable as a tenant since spring 2011 , after Christa Goessing's children and grandchildren decided against actively taking over the business.
Christa Goessing, who suffered from cancer of the pancreas, died on December 28, 2011 of complications from pneumonia.
