Heinrich-Wilhelm "Kaiser" Johannsmann (born December 23, 1951 in Ebbesloh ) is a former German show jumper .

Career

Heinrich-Wilhelm Johannsmann grew up on his parents' horse breeding farm. At the age of 12 he started riding his father's broodmares. Later he got the opportunity to ride the horse of the club chairman at the Steinhagen riding club . During these years his nickname "Der Kaiser" was coined: his first riding instructor told him that he should sit "straight" like an emperor on a horse. After finishing school he planned a career as a professional rider, but at the request of his parents began an apprenticeship as a saddler. After completing this apprenticeship, he went to Lutz Goessing in 1973 , whom he already knew through personal contact at his home facility, and did his training as a rider here. He also supported him while he was doing his military service at the sports school of the Bundeswehr in Warendorf. In addition, also counted Hans Günter Winkler to his instructors.

In 1978 he left the Goessing stable and switched to the Römersee Stud of Gerhard Brenninkmeyer (then co-owner of C&A ) in Heiden as a rider . The first part of his international tournament career began with the horses Sarto and Chico made available to him here . In the same year he took part with the German team at the World Show Jumping Championships in Aachen, where he reached fifth place with the team. The greatest success of his career followed a year later, when he won silver with Sarto as part of the German team in the team classification at the 1979 European Championships in Rotterdam. In 1981 Johannsmann went back to the Goessing family's stable, and Thomas Frühmann was his successor at the Römersee Stud .

His second phase of success in international sport began in 1997. In that year he got three state stallions from the Warendorf State Stud ( Prosario , Potsdam and Grail Guardian ) for training. In addition to his tournament career, he was an honorary trainer for the DOKR national performance center in Warendorf from May 1998 to April 2004 . From 2002 he was together with Rudolf Könemund and Lutz Gripshöver a founding member of the Sabrina Illbruck team, with whom he also took part in the Riders Tour team competition.

The year 2005 was the last of his active riding career, after winning the Vienna Hall Derby in October 2005, he said goodbye to the audience in December at the festival hall tournament in Frankfurt (Main) and ended his equestrian career. After his sporting career, he worked as a trainer, including in Ludger Beerbaum's stable .

From 2011 to 2013 he was head of the team for Ukrainian teams at Nations Cups, with Nobert Nuxoll assisting him from April 2012 . From 2014 he will work as a trainer for the German regional associations.
