Lutz Gripshöver (born March 31, 1972 in Werne ) is a German show jumper .

Career

Lutz Gripshöver grew up on a horse farm in Werne with his two equestrian enthusiasts . He started riding at the age of six and was already taking part in pony tournaments at the age of ten. In 1989 he did an agricultural training in his parents' company. In 1990, after ten victories in advanced level tests, he was awarded the Golden Riding Badge . In 1992 he went to the Bundeswehr sports school in Warendorf . In the following year he returned to his parents' company and dedicated himself to his tournament sports career. Since 2002 he has been part of the "Team Sabina Illbruck", with whom he took part in the team competition of the Riders Tour until 2005 . Also in 2002 he passed the horse management exam and received the Stensbeck silver medal.

He lists Fritz Ligges as the person who influenced him the most . Lutz Gripshöver is married and lives on his parents' farm in Werne.

The Gripshöver family, together with the local riding and driving club St. Georg Werne, organize a national show jumping and dressage competition with tests of the advanced level every April at their home facility in Werne- Lenklar. The highlight is the Show Jumping Grand Prix, which was endowed with € 13,000 in 2012.

In the last few years Gripshöver only started sporadically at international tournaments. In April 2010 he was seriously injured by a horse in the head at the domestic tournament. He was flown to hospital with a traumatic brain injury . After several months of improvement, he is back as a professional rider.

• 2001: 3rd place at the German Championships in Münster, 3rd place at the Nations Cup in Rotterdam with Warren NRW
• 2002: 3rd place in the Grand Prix of Spangenberg with Gogo-Girl , 4th place in the Grand Prix of Hachenburg (Riders Tour evaluation test) with Warren NRW
• 2003: 3rd place at the Grand Prix of Oldenburg (CSI **) with Polyfee , 3rd place at the CSI *** Leeurwarden / NED with Warren NRW
• 2004: 1st place in the Sabina Illbruck team in the Riders Tour team competition at CSI Donaueschingen with Polyfee , 3rd place in the Grand Prix CSI *** Kiel with Polyfee
• 2005: 4th place in the Grand Prix of Dortmund / the Federal Republic (CSI ***) with Polyfee , 5th place in the Grand Prix of the Equestrian Festival Bremen with Polyfee
• 2006: 4th place in the Grand Prix of Gahlen with pontiff
• 2007: 5th place in the Nations Cup of Norway (CSIO 4 * Drammen) with Pontifee , 6th place in the Grand Prix of Redefin (CSI 3 *) with Pontifex
• No international successes from 2008 to 2011
• 2012: 1st place with the Westfalen team in the German Show Jumping Team, Braunschweig with Amaretto

Gripshöver's sporting career was shaped by the stallion Pontifex , a bay Westphalian stallion (* 1991, father: Polydor, mother of: Dialekt). Gripshöver was successful in tournament sports with him as well as with his daughters Polyfee and Pontifee.
