Nathalie Princess zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg , full name Nathalie Xenia Margareta Benedigte Princess zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg (born May 2, 1975 in Copenhagen ), is a German-Danish dressage rider .

Nathalie zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg is the youngest daughter of Princess Benedschaften of Denmark (* 1944) and Richard zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg (1934-2017), eldest son of Gustav Albrecht Prince zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg and the Swedish Countess Margareta Fouché d'Otrante . Her maternal grandparents are the Danish King Friedrich IX. and Princess Ingrid of Sweden . She is thus a niece of Queen Margrethe II and the Greek ex-Queen Anne-Marie of Denmark . She grew up with her siblings at Berleburg Castle and in Denmark . In 1996 Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg also took on Danish citizenship.

She discovered her love for horses and equestrian sports at an early age. After graduating from high school, she began training in riding at the Flyinge stud in Sweden in 1994 with the Finnish teacher Kyra Kyrklund , who was the 1990 vice world champion in dressage riding. Her success began with the participation of the Danish team in the European Championship for young riders, which she finished with a bronze medal. Later she switched to the training of the then head trainer of the German dressage team and later trainer of the US dressage team, Klaus Balkenhol . In addition to riding, she and her mother breed dressage horses in Bad Berleburg .

At the Olympic Summer Games in Beijing in 2008 she won the bronze medal on Digby with the Danish dressage team.

Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg was engaged to Alexander Johannsmann, son of Heinrich-Wilhelm Johannsmann , on January 4, 2010 . The civil wedding took place on May 27, 2010 in the orangery in the park of Berleburg, the church wedding on June 18, 2011 in the Protestant church of Bad Berleburg. Their son was born on July 24, 2010. He was baptized on December 26th in the chapel of Berleburg Castle under the name Konstantin Gustav Heinrich Richard. His godparents are Crown Princess Mary of Denmark , Ann-Kathrin Johannsmann and Gustav Prinz zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg. A daughter Louisa was born on January 28, 2015.
