Margareta Princess zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg (born March 28, 1909 in Elghammar , Sweden ; † August 25, 2005 in Bad Berleburg , Germany ) was a Swedish born Countess Fouché d'Otrante and wife of Gustav Albrecht Prince zu Sayn-Wittgenstein - Berleburg. According to the house law, she was dubbed Princess Margareta zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg .

Life

Margareta was born Countess Fouché d'Otrante. On January 26, 1934, she married the German Rittmeister Gustav Albrecht zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg , a son of Prince Richard zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg and Princess Madeleine zu Löwenstein-Wertheim-Freudenberg . She lived in Berleburg Castle since 1934 . Gustav has been missing since World War II . Margareta ran the business until 1969. Her husband's will is still having an effect on the grandchildren after her nephew Ludwig Ferdinand Prince zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg considers himself entitled to attack it in court since 2017.

Margareta's eldest son, Richard zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg, had been married to Princess Benedichern of Denmark , sister of Queen Margrethe II of Denmark , since 1968 .
