Stuart Tinney , OAM , (born December 7, 1964 in Mundubbera , Queensland ) is an Australian eventing rider and horse breeder .

Tinney first began horse riding when he was eight years old while driving cattle drovers in the Gladstone area of central Queensland. From 1986 he took part in national versatility competitions, from 1990 in international events. Tinney achieved numerous placements in the top ten and gradually established himself at the top of the world.

His greatest success so far was at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney when he won the gold medal in the team competition (with the horse Jeepster ). Four years later , the Australian team finished sixth. Tinney's best result at World Equestrian Games is fourth place in 2002 in Jerez de la Frontera . In competitions of the highest category ( CCI **** ), after two second places at the Australian International Three Day Event (2003 and 2006), he won this most important eventing test in Australia in 2009. He also won the test in 2011, this one Time with the Panamera .

With Vettori he was part of the Australian team at the 2010 World Equestrian Games , four years later he competed as an individual rider at the World Equestrian Games. Twelve years after his last Olympic Games, he was nominated with Pluto Mio for the Games in Rio de Janeiro , where he won the bronze medal with the team.

Tinney lives with his wife and two daughters in Maraylya, around 40 km northwest of Sydney, where he owns a horse breeding business. In 2005 he wrote a book on cross country riding entitled "Making the Time: An Expert Guide to Cross Country Riding" ( ISBN 1-40510-292-6 ).
