Thies Kaspareit
Thies Kaspareit (born February 1, 1964 in Oldenburg in Holstein ) is a former German eventing rider .
After proving his talent in 1983 in third and in 1984 in second in the German championship for young riders, he finished fifth in 1987 and sixth in the German championship for senior citizens in 1988. For the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul , Kaspareit was nominated as a substitute rider. He then joined the team for Wolfgang Mengers after Mengers' horse died.
The German team competed in Seoul with Claus Erhorn , Matthias Baumann , Ralf Ehrenbrink and Thies Kaspareit. While Ehenbrink was disqualified, Kaspareit took ninth place in the individual evaluation with 94.80 points on sherry and won the Olympic gold medal in the team evaluation with Erhorn and Baumann and was awarded the silver laurel leaf for this with the team.
During his career, Kaspareit was at the Bundeswehr sports school in Warendorf . Kaspareit is a master horse manager. Since it was founded in 1998, he has been the director of the German Academy of Horses , whose task it was to convey scientific knowledge about horses and equestrian sports. At the beginning of 2012 the academy will be dissolved and will be part of the "Education and Science" department (formerly "Education" department) of the German Equestrian Association . Kaspareit will be in charge of this, replacing Christoph Hess in the area of training .
