Great Britain took part in the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City with a delegation of 225 athletes (175 men and 50 women) in 133 competitions in sixteen sports. The most successful Olympian was eventing rider Derek Allhusen with two medals. A total of four medal wins were recorded in both riding and athletics. The flag bearer at the opening ceremony was long jumper Lynn Davies , at the closing ceremony David Hemery , winner of the 400 meter hurdles,worethe Union Jack .
