Iceland participated in the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City with a delegation of eight athletes (six men and two women) in 15 competitions in three sports. None of the athletes managed to win a medal. The flag bearer at the opening ceremony was the athlete Guðmundur Hermannsson .
