Iceland participated in the 2000 Summer Olympics for the 20th time in the Summer Olympics. The country was represented by 18 athletes in 5 different sports. The only medal could be won by the athlete Vala Flosadóttir, who wonthe bronze medalin the pole vault . The flag bearer at the opening ceremony was the athlete Guðrún Arnardóttir .
