Nepal took part in the 2000 Summer Olympics in the Australian metropolis of Sydney with five athletes, two women and three men, in five competitions in three sports.

It was the Asian state's ninth participation in the Summer Olympics since 1964 .

Flag bearer

The swimmer Chitra Bahadur Gurung ( Nepali : चित्रबहादुर गुरुङ) carried the flag of Nepal during the opening ceremony at Stadium Australia .
