Olympic history of Nepal

Nepal , whose NOK , the Nepal Olympic Committee , was founded in 1962 andrecognizedby the IOC in1963, has been participating in the Summer Olympic Games since 1964. In 1968 they did not participate in the Mexico City Games. Nepalese athletes have not yet been able to win medals. Since 2002, Nepalese athletes have also been participating in winter games. Young athletes have taken part in all of the Youth Olympic Games that have been held so far in summer and winter.
Overview
Summer games
The country's first Olympic team in 1964 consisted of two track and field athletes and four boxers. In the following participations, Nepalese athletes competed in weightlifting (from 1980), judo and shooting (from 1988), swimming (from 1996), Taekwondo (from 2004) and archery (from 2016).
The first Olympians in Nepal were the boxers Ram Prasad Gurung and Om Prasad Pun on October 11, 1964. The first woman in Nepal to participate in the Olympic Games on September 18, 1988 was Parvati Thapa.
Winter games
During the Winter Games of 1924, on February 4, 1924, the Sherpa Tejbir Bura was awarded the Prix olympique d'alpinisme as a member of the British expedition to Mount Everest 1922 .
It was not until 2002 that a Nepalese winter athlete took part for the first time. Cross-country skier Jayaram Khadka was the first Nepalese winter Olympian on February 14, 2002. Women from Nepal have not yet participated in the Winter Games. Cross-country skiing is the only sport so far in which Nepal was represented at the Winter Games.
Youth games
At the first Youth Summer Games in Singapore in 2010 , four teenagers, two boys and two girls, competed in athletics and taekwondo. In 2014 in Nanjing , two teenagers, a boy and a girl, competed in athletics and badminton.
A boy took part in the 2012 Winter Youth Games in alpine skiing. 2016 in Lillehammer the only participant was again an alpine ski racer.
