The People's Democratic Republic of Yemen , also known as South Yemen, was represented at the 1988 Summer Olympics .
history
South Yemen first took part in boxing and athletics with five male athletes in 1988. It was the only participation of South Yemen in the Olympic Games in this form.
In 1990 the People's Democratic Republic of Yemen (South Yemen) merged with the Yemeni Arab Republic (North Yemen) to form the reunified Yemen , which was first played at the Olympic Games in 1992.
