Rhodesia took part in three Summer Olympic Games. In 1928 and 1964 athletes from Southern Rhodesia were sent to the Games, in 1960 athletes from the Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland took part. Participation in 1968 failed due to the rigid Mexican entry regulations. In 1972 the IOC did not allow participation , the IOC bowed to pressure from other African countries that did not recognize the Rhodesian state. From 1980 the athletes of the former British colony competed under the name Zimbabwe (IOC abbreviation ZIM).

A total of 44 athletes competed, including nine women. Medals were not won.
