Olympic history of the Central African Republic

The Central African Republic , whose NOK , the Comité National Olympique et Sportif Centrafricain , was founded in 1964 and recognized by the IOC in 1965 , first took part in the 1968 Summer Olympics. In 1972 they did not participate. In 1976 and 1980, the NOK joined calls to boycott the Montreal and Moscow Games. So far, no athletes have been sent to the Winter Games. Medals have not yet been won.
Overview
The athlete Gabriel M'Boa, who competed in the 5,000-meter race on October 15, 1968, was the first and only Olympian in the Central African Republic at the 1968 Mexico City Games . After Munich in 1972 no delegation was sent. The country followed calls for boycotts from African countries and the USA and stayed away from the games in Montreal in 1976 and Moscow in 1980 .
In 1984 in Los Angeles a Central African team took part again, this time boxers in the country competed in the Olympic Games for the first time. In 1988 a Central African basketball team took part in the Olympic tournament for the first time in Seoul , and in 1992 in Barcelona there were cyclists and judoka. In Barcelona, a woman in the country took part in the Olympic Games for the first time. The first female Olympian was the judoka Felicité Makounawode on July 30, 1992, who competed in the light middleweight division.
The other participations were unsuccessful for the country. A female archer competed for the first time in Sydney in 2000 , a taekwondo in Athens in 2004 , a swimmer and a wrestler in London in 2012 .
