The Marshall Islands , whose NOK , the Marshall Islands National Olympic Committee , was founded in 2001, has been participating in the Summer Olympics since 2008. So far, no athlete from the Pacific Islands has participated in the Winter Games. Young athletes have been sent to both of the youth summer games held so far.
Athletes from the Marshall Islands could not win medals.
General overview
Olympic games
The Marshall Islands' first Olympic team consisted of track and field athletes, swimmers and a taekwondoin. In 2016, a female weightlifter took part for the first time. The swimmer Jared Heine was the first Olympic athlete in his country on August 10, 2008. Five days later followed with Julianne Kirchner, also a swimmer, the first woman of the Marshall Islands at the Olympic Games.
Youth Olympic Games
The Marshall Islands took part in the 2010 Summer Youth Games in Singapore with four young people . Two boys and two girls competed in swimming and weightlifting.
In 2014 in Nanjing , four youth athletes, two boys and two girls, took part again. They competed in athletics, swimming and wrestling.
