The Cook Islands , whose NOK , the Cook Islands Sports and National Olympic Committee , was founded in 1986, has participated in all Summer Olympic Games since 1988. No athletes have taken part in the Winter Games so far. Young athletes have been sent to both of the youth summer games held so far.

Athletes from the Cook Islands could not win medals.

General overview

Summer games

The first Olympic team of the Pacific island nation consisted of seven participants, six men and one woman in Seoul in 1988, who competed in the sports of athletics, boxing and weightlifting. The first Olympians of the Cook Islands were the boxers Zekaria Williams in the flyweight and Richard Pittman in the featherweight on September 18, 1988. The first woman in the Cook Islands at the Olympic Games was the athlete Erin Tierney in the 100-meter run a day later.

A sailor took part for the first time in 1996, a swimmer in 2008 and canoeists in 2012. All participating athletes were unsuccessful.

Youth games

The Cook Islands took part in the 2010 Summer Youth Games in Singapore with 18 young people . 16 boys and two girls competed in handball, sailing and swimming.

In 2014 in Nanjing , four teenage athletes, three boys and one girl, took part. They competed in swimming, sailing and golf.
