Cape Verde , whose NOK , the Comité Olímpico Caboverdeano , was founded in 1989, first took part in the 1996 Summer Olympics. So far, no athletes have been sent to the Winter Games. Athletes from the island state have not yet been able to win medals.

Overview

The sprinter Isménia do Frederico was the first female Olympian in her country in Atlanta in 1996 . One day later, a man from Cape Verde took part for the first time, the hurdler Henry Andrade. In 2004 in Athens a Cape Verdean boxer and a gymnast competed for the first time. A judoka first represented her country in London in 2012 , and a Taekwondo in Rio de Janeiro in 2016 .
